What does an ordinary workday look like for you?
Because I run my own business, I end up wearing many hats.
Most days include a combination of account management, client communications, and business development. I’ve tried batching days, but I’ve found paid search client work waits for no one, so it ends up being a daily activity. I’ve learned to appreciate the variety.
What are some of your favorite marketing tools or resources?
My favorite marketing resources are the ones that show up at the top of Google when I’m looking for an answer to a specific question. 🙂
Beyond that, I think everyone would do well to learn from Copy Hackers, MECLABS and Harmon Brothers.
What is the best piece of marketing advice you’ve ever received?
After I put in notice for my full-time job, I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to launch on my own and started applying to other jobs.
My business coach asked me what I’d get from those roles, and I said “money and experience,” even though I wasn’t struggling with either. She told me, “it’d be absolutely criminal to abandon your dream to get 2 things you already have.”
With that, I withdrew my applications and got to work building my own business.
